The Kids Choice Awards are Nickelodeon's annual awards show. It acts as the kid equivalent of the People's Choice Awards. One of the most popular hosts was Rosie O'Donnell, who hosted the show from 1996-2003. The award is a Nickelodeon blimp, which for years was an alternate version of the Nickelodeon logo. The awards ceremony takes place on Slime Island, which reflects the messiness of Nick in the nineties. It was originally known as The Big Ballot.
For awhile, some of the nominees would be several years old. One of the nominees for Favorite Video Game was Ms. Pac Man, an arcade game released about a decade earlier. In more recent years, the awards have featured more recent nominees.
While the awards show distinguishes between musical group (e.g. Backstreet Boys) and band (Green Day), it does not have separate categories for favorite sports team.
The KCAs have been parodied on sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.
